Martin & Andrew the owners, moved to Devon in 2015 after some 25 years visiting the South Hams, they set about searching for a suitable property that would allow them to create a comfortable home combined a Country Bed and Breakfast with Boutique Hotel style rooms, that they themselves have come to enjoy, in their travels around the UK.
After Nine years of ownership they have continued to sympathetically carry out improvements and build on their reputation gained, they extend a warm welcome to you at Downton Lodge. Redecoration and refurbishment of the rooms is constantlyt undertaken, Built originally as a pair of farm labourers cottages around 1900, Downton Lodge has undergone several changes over the last century. During the 1960s for example it was a holiday home, playing host to celebrities such as Spike Milligan. A local farmer told of how – in the depths of a snowy winter – he transported members of the Rolling Stones on the back of his tractor from Downton Lodge to the local pub!
Martin and Andrew appreciate good accommodation and a friendly atmosphere along with good service, they are delighted with the feedback from guests that have stayed with them at Downton Lodge, the feedback received from all has been extremely complementary and positive.
